Almost at the finish line!

On Saturday Kevin and a bunch of my Toki family went to Sweetlife Festival and that event was legit! They had a great lineup but I was mainly there to hang out amongst friends and family, which was great since I had stress-induced nausea the whole week before.

Anyway, as great of a de-stress fest that it was, I must get back to work. I have four projects/papers/presentations due in a few hours. I’m almost near the end! I can’t believe four years have passed by so quickly and I’ll no longer be a student. I’ve definitely learned a lot, met great people and become a better person in these past four years.

Enough of me being sentimental, I still have to pass my classes first if I still want to walk across the stage.

Good luck with finals to all my fellow students out there!

Honey Pig Izakaya

Last night, Phana and I went to Honey Pig Izakaya for dinner. We’ve been awesome friends since 8th grade and she just turned 22! HAPPY BIRTHDAY 22ND BIRTHDAY PHANA! Since her birthday was on a weekday, we went out for a quiet dinner but we’re definitely having a bigger celebration this weekend.

The restaurant just opened recently and I think it is pretty freaking rad. They have a really, really good alcohol and food selection with really reasonable prices too. It looks like I may not have to go to New York anymore for an izakaya because there’s now one in Annandale!

My favorite Japanese dark beer ever~ Too bad Phana told me it tastes like soy sauce and now it cannot be untasted, boo.

Overall, I have a lot of respect for the Honey Pig brand/franchise because of how they’re changing the scene in Annandale. Annandale used to be pretty boring, barely any places stayed open late and we never had anything to do. There were one or two 24/7 Korean BBQ places, but they were fairly expensive. Then Honey Pig came in, opened 24/7 and is relatively really cheap for the amount of food you received, and it was damn yummy too. It gave drunk people a place to go eat after hitting the clubs/parties/karaoke rooms. (Honey Pig is also 1000x more delicious when you are intoxicated, whether you are hungry or not.)

Now they’re bringing the Honey Pig name to an izakaya, which is also relatively inexpensive and serves awesome food. Not to mention that, but Echigo Stout is a bit of a rare beer and no restaurants in Annandale serve it and very few restaurants in D.C. serve it. I am an extremely happy camper now that I no longer have to drive into work to drink it.

Annandale may be in the suburb, but there’s so much to do here for nightlife thanks to awesome restaurants like Honey Pig and fun karaoke rooms that open until 5am. Don’t get me wrong, I love the city but I’d choose Annandale over D.C. any day. (But I guess I am a bit bias since I live here.)

Lush: Mask of Magnaminty

So many months ago, I came across this post on Nanarabu’s blog about the Mask of Magnaminty from Lush. She raved about it and even mentioned that it was the best facial mask in Japan according to COSME. So I was really glad to find out that this wasn’t a Japan-only item and that Lush carried this in the U.S. too!

Turning into the Hulk!

This is my first purchase ever from Lush since I had never been interested in their bath bombs (showers ftw) and was really disinterested in the store itself because it was always so suffocating.

The mask itself smells like mint chocolate and it gives your skin a tingly feeling like how Burt’s Bees lip balm tingles your lips. Its really pleasant for your skin and I feel like I always get this glow after using it. Application is easy but it does get a bit messy when I wash it off over the sink.

To use: Wash your face with a cleanser. Apply an even amount evenly over your face. Wait for the entire mask to dry (~20 minutes). Wash the mask off. Moisturize.

I use it about 1-2 times a week. It does have a 3 month shelf life, so I bought the smaller tub (~$12) and would recommend you to buy the smaller one unless you are sharing it with someone else.

Pros:
- Great deep cleanser and exfoliator, pretty gentle on skin.
- Smells & feels good
- Natural, fresh & handmade

Cons:
- Short self life

Overall, I would definitely recommend this! I have normal-dry sensitive skin and it didn’t make me break out. Short story! The first time I used this, I also got my haircut. I went to school and my oblivious silly friend said to me, “You look different… Is your complexion clearer?” And even though I did use this cleanser the night before, I’m really baffled as to why he noticed my skin and didn’t even notice my haircut until I mentioned it.
